Wedding Planning

So I haven't even been engaged a week and I am already full throttle into wedding planning. Here are the reasons:
1. I've been waiting 5.5 yrs to plan this wedding
2. I want to get married in late summer or fall of 2009
3. My sister is hoping to get engaged at the end of 2009 and married is 2010 and my mom already informed me her wallet can only handle one wedding a year.
4. I have pretty much had the whole wedding planned for last 2 years I've just been waiting for the go ahead (i.e. the diamond!)

I am so happy that there is a whole world of blogging brides-to-be out there because I just want to warn everyone now- THIS IS GOING TO TURN INTO A WEDDING BLOG, not because I want to turn this to a wedding blog, I just know that majority of my posts will probably be about the wedding ... so if you are over weddings or don't want to read about them I would like to apologize now.

I already have 2 excel work books made and my dear co-worker just gave me a binder to help me get organized!! I already have an appointment with a priest at my church for this Saturday to see which dates are available, I can't believe it's all so official and real!!

Happy Planning!!

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!! I hope Santa brought you all everything on your list!!

It's Official......

I'm engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't really believe it yet to be honest with you all!! K asked yesterday when I got home from work. He actually had a really cute idea planned where he was going to hide it in the presents he had just bought for his mom and then have me go through them and find the ring. BUT I beat him home from work because we got off early so I waited in the parking lot for him when I saw his car pull up and then he had this goofy grin on his face like he was hiding something, I assumed it was the bags he was holding so I was like opps I won't look and ran ahead into the house. Well right when he got in the door he put his stuff down and starting telling me how he had this plan but I got home to early so he couldn't do it and then he was like well here it is and he pulled out the ring box. I did not start crying, I starting jumping up and down because I knew exactly what it was!!!! Then he asked me to marry him and I said Of course I will!!!!!

So I have basically spent the last 20 hours just staring at my hand trying to get used to this new diamond on it, so far it's going well!

I think this is the BEST Christmas present I have ever gotten- it's rignt up there with the My Little Pony Dream Castle

P.S. that is not the actual ring but it is similar to it :)

Needed: One Kitchen Aid Artisan 5 QT. Stand Mixer

Preferably in this Komen Pink or Empire Red. I NEED this mixer, like a horse needs water. I must have this mixer. See I LOVE baking, I mean love it and this is the holy grail of kitchen electronics, especially for a baker. Nothing tops this. Nothing even comes close. I mean one reason why I'm excited to get married is so I can register for this so that some poor sap will spend $299.95 on a mixer for me since I won't.

Until that day though I will be stuck with my Proctor-Silex hand mixer, which don't get me wrong, has been a trusty companion to me through my trials and tribulations of baking but I hoping soon I will get to retire the hand mixer and pass it down to my sister until she receives her amazing Kitchen Aid mixer.

My camera is back!!!

So I broke my camera on labor day weekend. I was so excited to show everyone at the party our new house that I dropped it right on a concrete patio. The lens was stuck open and it wouldn't even turn on. I just about cried, literally, I was horribly depressed, the camera had become my 4th arm (my cell phone being my 3rd arm). We bought the camera in June right before our trip to Italy because our old camera was spent. Since I love taking pictures I took the new camera with me EVERYWHERE and photographed EVERYTHING. To the point where K wanted to just take from me and stomp on it.

Well with all the hassle of packing and moving in Sept and Oct I kept putting off mailing the camera to Olympus. So finally when things calmed down I sent it. Now I don't know if anyone else has an Olympus camera but they communicate with you via SNAIL MAIL. I'm not joking. I sent in the camera with the repair form all filled out with copies of the warranty card and receipt and I waited. I finally received a letter in the mail 1.5 weeks later saying that since the camera was clearly dropped it wasn't covered under warranty and we would owe $79 to fix the lens. I was cool with that and they even had an option where you could pay on the internet right? Wrong. I had to either snail mail or fax in the credit card info. Faxing I'm down with but I sat there thinking are there really people that actually mail this card, who mails anything anymore.
So I finally faxed the receipt on Monday and to my surprise my camera was on my door step Wednesday night!!

I of course rip open the package and immediately start taking pictures of our christmas tree, the stockings, my christmas village, my decorations, christmas cards we received, etc. Anyone photo obsessed can relate!! So I finally had time today to upload all the photos and update my albums on various social networking sites, photo sites, my wonderful blog, etc. and here's the kicker...

I can't find my USB cord anywhere!!!!! This is worse than not having the camera because now I have a camera full of pictures and no way to display to the world!! What am I going to do? Well now I have to do the inevitable. I have to clean out the boxes in the office that have been sitting there neglected for the past 2 months and hope and pray that my cord is in there.

Wish me Luck!!! Hopefully I'll have pics posted later!

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!!

I know, I know, Christmas is only 10 days away. I have completed my decorating, which is a little measly this year but that's ok because it's our first Christmas in this house and I'm cheap and waiting for all the Christmas stuff to go on sale the day after so that I can stock up for next year!!! I did get absolutely adorable monogrammed stockngs for me and K that I am in love with!! I would add pics but I broke my camera and it in the repair shop right now, I was hoping to have it back before Christmas but I don't think that is going to happen!

I have just started/almost finished my shopping, which is exciting and there are soooo many sales out there I have saved tons of money!! The one nice thing about being in a recession is that the retailers are desperate to sell so everything is anywhere from 30-60% off!! I went to J.Crew this weekend and our total was $177 and then after all the discounts our total was $89.00!! We managed to pick up 4 sweaters for $89, which from JCrew is an absolute miracle!
If only I had been shopping for myself....

I have only had one holiday party so far and I have another one this Thursday, it's K's annual work dinner party at a tapas restaurant in DC so that should be fun! The menu looks amazing. Then we have our annual family/friends christmas eve party that I look forward to every year. It is great to get to catch up with everyone I don't see that often especially now that we're all grown up.

Well I'm off to Kohls to see if I can find any good deals... K is dying for some Ugg slippers but will settle for a knock off brand some hopefully I can find something!

If I'm ever Rich...

I am hiring a cleaning lady, or person I should say to be politically correct. I HATE cleaning, I mean absolutely despise it. Hate, hate, hate it. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought a house with 3 bathrooms... more cleaning. I cannot even fathom cleaning a house bigger than my little townhouse. It would kill me.
I am naturally a messy person. I keep my living areas neat but our bedroom constantly looks like a tornado hit it. Honestly. It doesn't help that K is much messier than me. I don't think I've ever seen him fold a piece of clothing without being forced to do it.

So with that being said I am pouring myself a glass of wine and attacking this cleaning head on. Hopefully I'll make enough progress to see my bedroom floor.

Happy almost Friday!

Happy Birthday Little Sis

I have to give a big Happy Birthday shout to my Little Sis!! She is turning the big 2-4 today!! I'm a little jealous that she is still in the prime of her 20's... not that I am old or anything I just wouldn't mind having a few extra years to have fun!

Thanks for being a wonderful sister and best friend through the years and putting up with ALL my craziness! I don't know what I would do without you, you truly are the best friend and sister anyone could ask for. I hope you have an absolutely amazing birthday and all your wishes come true!

Everyone is getting Engaged BUT My Daughter!!

I think these are the thoughts currently floating around in my mother's little head. Why you might ask? Well there are quite a few reasons:
1. I have been with K for 5.5 years... yes a very very long time and yes we do own a home together now
2. EVERYONE really is getting engaged but me. I cannot even count on two hands the number of engaged friends I have
3. It really is about time, I think everyone, even the people asking, are getting tired of talking about when we're getting engaged.
4. This is the email K and I received today from my mother:

Subject: Refinance and a few questions

N and K,
I wanted to let you know that I did tell Wes that you may be interested in doing a refi if the rate goes down, so he may be calling you. Also a few other questions?
1. Are you coming down on Friday for Pris's birthday dinner?
2. Are you coming to Mass on Christmas eve and then going to the Dyer's?
3. Are you going to get engaged this Christmas?
4. Are you bringing the breakfast food on Christmas morning or do we need to provide it?

Love you, Mom

Can you believe her? I almost fell off my desk chair at work. My mother is not one to be subtle, I have learned (the hard way) over the years. I must admit as shocked as I was at first, it is a hilarious way to ask us!!

Hopefully, Mom, if you read this I will be engaged by christmas and then you can stop focusing on me and start focusing on the family black sheep again...

Clean Slate

Welcome to my new blog! This is a blog redo as I like to call it. Apparently they way I blogged before wasn't working so this is my new blog about me and my life and all my crazy ramblings. So if you're friends or family of mine and you don't want to make it onto the internet then don't say or do anything that is blog worthy or I will post it up here. That is a promise.

I hope you enjoy viewing the world through the eyes of a twenty something unmarried girl living in the 'burbs with her boyfriend in their home that they yes, own.
