3 Years!

3 years ago today I married my best friend, I know that sounds so cliche but it's true, we have way to much fun together.  We met when we were 21 and now we're 30, the years have flown by and I can't believe we've managed to make it this far without killing each other, but we have and I know that we'll have many more years of happiness!

Trip Recap 1: New York City-Manhattan

Two weekends ago my sister and I ventured up to NYC for a long weekend and bachelorette party.  I love NYC and it's one of my favorite places to visit but I can really only handle about 4 days there before I ready to be back home in the suburbs!

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel on Madison Ave at 29th st. It was a really nice hotel and in a great location. It was easy to walk to most of the places we wanted to go to.

We arrived around 1pm and were starving so we started our trek to SoHo (my favorite place to shop in the city) and hoped to find food on the way. I had been hearing about abc kitchen an organic farm to table type restaurant but I didn't know where it was and we just happened to stumble upon it on our way to SoHo. I am so happy that we did! We didn't have reservation but the wait wasn't very long and the food was amazing.  I had the tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil whole wheat pizza and it was some of the best pizza I've ever had.  Plus the restaurant just has a very cool electic vibe.
Sadly we did not go into ABC Carpet and Home

 (pic from their website)

I finally made it C.Wonder and I'm obsessed!! It took all my willpower not to buy half the store.  I was actually in SoHo last fall on the opening weekend of the store but didn't get to go in since lines were around the block. It did not disappoint, it really is a more affordable Tory Burch. The website doesn't do it any justice, if you're ever near a store you must go in!

After some shopping around SoHo we stopped at Balthazar at the suggestion of Cheryl Denise from A Peek of Chic for some cocktails.  We didn't have any celebrity sightings but we did have some delicious drinks

Thursday night we had reservations at David Burke Kitchen which is located in the James Hotel in SoHo.  My sister had been dying to go to this restaurant so we went. We sat in the Garden which I higly recommend. The food was good but nothing too exciting or over the top, we were both disappointed especially after our amazing meal at abc kitchen.  We did meet the most fun group of gay guys and chatted with them all night which lead to us all sharing desserts which I can say are amazing.  If you go you must try the ricotta donuts- to die for.

Friday we decided to just walk around the city and try to go to Central Park. It was a good idea in theory but it ended up being sweltering and we were both a sweaty hot mess but it was still fun!I finally got to eat Shake Shack too! (I don't eat red meat but I love myself a milkshake and fries:)

Friday night we headed to Brooklyn for the bachelorette party.  I fell in love with Brooklyn and am dying to go back- will be back later this week to recap that part of the trip!

Catching Up and NYC Recommendations

Just stopping by for a quick Hello!

I have been so busy lately, I'm not complaining, but my blogging and blog reading have totally fallen to the back burner!  My next few weeks are full of classes and seminars as I continue to learn more and more about real estate and our current market place.  At times my head is spinning but at the same time I'm feeling so happy and motivated that I know I'm back in the right field.

In fun news I am headed to NYC this Thursday-Sunday!! I am so excited!! I'm going up for a bachelorette weekend that starts Friday night but me and my sister are heading up on Thursday morning so we can have 2 full days in the city to be completely touristy!  We have some things planned but a lot we don't so any recommendations would be great!   What are some of your favorite places to visit, eat, shop, etc?

Random Tuesday

Hi!  How is it Tuesday and August already? I feel like 2012 is flying by.  It's going to be fall before you know it! I wish I had more substance to offer but my brain is just not having it so you get bullet points.

- I have been HOOKED on the Olympics and staying up way to late every night to see what happens.  I'm so sleep deprived but I can't help it. How cute was Gabby Douglas when she won the Gold in the all around?  Oh.my.god. that smile and her mom's tears- it was killing me! Have you been watching? Who's been your favorite so far?

- I have read 31 books toward my goal of 50 books this year, which means I'm 2 books ahead.  I'm pretty impressed with myself to be honest with you. Now don't get too excited, I'm not a literary snob at all so most of my books are chick-lit, but those still count :).  You can follow along with me on Goodreads if you'd like.

- My husband has been in Argentina since July 27th and I am so ready for him to be home.  I know 10 days isn't really that long but I swear I completely forgot how to take care of just myself and all my bad single girl habits have crept back in, like eating pizza every night and leaving piles and piles of clothes on one side of my bed.

- Hunger Games comes out on DVD on August 18th.  I'm pretty excited.

- I painted my upstairs guest bath this past weekend and I love the change.  I had it painted Relaxed Khaki by Sherwin Williams when we first moved in but I got really tired of the color and felt like it needed to be spiced up.  I'm not a dark color girl so I went with Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams, which is a really great blue-green.  I was completely inspired by this post here from House of Turquoise.

- I did a post on Beyonce and Jay-z's summer Hamptons rental on my real estate blog.  You can check it out here.  It's called the Sandcastle on Bridgehampton and it's insane.  It typically rents for $500,000 for 2 weeks!

- My sister and I went shopping in Tyson's last week and then lunched in Bethesda. Ahh I wish I was a rich socialite.  If you're not from the area there are 2 Tyson's malls- the normal people one which is Tyson's corner and then the rich people one, Tyson's Galleria, that hosts Neimans, Saks, LV, Gucci, Burberry, Cartier, Tory Burch, etc.  If only I had an endless bank account I could have spent so much money!

- I think Georgetown Cupcake is hands down my favorite cupcakes.  I totally hate their TV show and find those sisters seriously annoying but the cupcakes are to.die.for.

- The J.Crew Fall Look Book is killing me I've already decided I need about $600.00 worth of new clothes... now to convince my husband.

- I have a new wine that I love.  It's Seaglass Sauvignon Blanc.  It is the perfect summer wine. It's light, crisp, and freshing for the hot days we've been having.

I hope you all are having a great Tuesday!

PopSugar Must Have Bag is a Must Have!

So I decided to jump on the pay-a-monthly fee-to-get-cool-stuff bandwagon and I choose the PopSugar Must Have Bag.   Anyone who knows me IRL knows that I am HUGE celebrity junkie and gossip websites are my crack.  I probably check about 10 of them a day and I check them at least every few hours or so.  I'm not even ashamed to admit it.

So when I saw that my favorite gossip site PopSugar was putting together something I jumped at the chance to get one.  The PopSugar one is a little bit more than Birchbox at $35.00 a month but below are the contents of the bag. Everything is full size- not sample!

The Welcome Letter

The Tote Bag- perfect beach bag to hold some magazines, towel, and a bottle of wine :)

Kind Bars- retail $1.49 per bar (if you don't eat these you must start they are so good and good for you)

RGB Nail polish in Doll and Minty
Retail - $16.00 per polish

ILIA Lip conditioner in Bang Bang and Lipstick in In my Room
Retail- $24.00 per tube

Body Drench Body scrub and lotion in raspberry and pomegrante
scrub- retail $12.00 and lotion-retail $7.00

So for $35.00 I got over $100.00 in products and a tote bag! I am throughly impressed and cannot wait for my August bag to arrive.  Go sign up here, now if you haven't already!

I just discovered BaubleBar!

Ok I know I'm a little late on this one but I just purchased my first piece of jewelry from BaubleBar! Ummm how was I missing this for so long?!!? The prices are amazing!  I am loving statement necklaces right now and I was purchasing most of them from J.Crew or Stella & Dot for a lot more than the pieces I found on BaublebBar.
I can't speak on quality yet because it hasn't arrived but I will fill you in once it does.

Here is the necklace I ordered below.  I have been eyeing this on many bloggers and FB friends so I finally took the plunge. It's the Elsa Necklace and I got it in fire.  It's also available in a pink and turquoise. It was $42.00 with free shipping, which is a steal compared to some of the S&D pieces I was buying!
Did you all see Michael Phelps sister wearing it yesterday at the Olympics? Yeah I bought it before I saw that and I'm probably screwed because EVERY woman in American will want one now but I'm ok with that.

If you haven't been to BaubleBar yet then you must go visit now!

Here are some other pieces I've been drooling over:

Do you like BaubleBar?  Have you ever ordered from them?  What did you think of the quality for the prices?
